About Curved Railing

What is Curved Railing?
Curved railing handrails and support elements are rolled "laterally" or "side to side". This is commonly called "rolling the hard way".

How do we roll material the hard way?
The stock to be rolled is placed in a special machine that features a circular top rolling die that exerts a tremendous amount of pressure downward against to lower rolling dies. The three rollers work in unison as they are rotated while increasing the pressure to achieve the required radius. This essentially compresses the inner surface while stretching the outer surface. The result is a smooth curve created in top molding and associated support elements.

Why should I choose a curved railing instead of a conventional straight railing?
Curved railings are often used on curved steps or platforms to follow the contour of existing steps. Curved railings also create a strikingly beautiful design element that stands above conventional straight railing.

Is curved railing more expensive than straight railing?
Because of the fabrication process required with curved railing the cost is greater. After the molded top handrail and support elements have been rolled the assembly process is more complicated when adding balusters, decorative elements or plasma cut sections.

The fabrication process requires that all elements be suspended on a flat table while adding support post and balusters. All elements must align properly with the support posts while following the curved sections.
