Wrought Iron Railings

What Is Wrought Iron?

Long before the invention of steel, Wrought Iron was used to produce many products and also used in construction.

In older times railings were constructed of Wrought Iron because Wrought Iron could be easily heated and hammered into various shapes. Fortunately, today we use steel to build metal railings. Steel is much stronger than Wrought Iron and easier & superior in its use in the fabrication of railings

Why are today's railings often called "Wrought Iron Railings?"

As with many other products, the name Wrought Iron has remained due to it's railing legacy. Modern railings are often referred to as Wrought Iron Railings though they are constructed of steel.
